History
A charming country house in the privileged natural surroundings of Osona
El Dalmau is located among wheat fields, in the heart of Osona, surrounded by forests of pine, holm oak and oak trees, some of them centuries old. This peaceful and privileged natural environment is an essential part of the character of this country house and its landscape, with beautiful views of the snow-capped Pyrenees in winter.
It is a farmhouse steeped in history. It is documented as early as 1213, but it also preserves some remains from earlier periods, such as sections of walls featuring «opus spicatum» stonework.
Attached to the farmhouse is a very well-preserved 17th-century church, which is still used for worship and where weddings can be held. This ensemble forms part of the heritage and history of the estate and contributes to the unique character of the rural accommodation.
Just a few metres from the farmhouse, there are two well-preserved tile kilns. They are believed to have been built to provide the materials needed for the construction of the house.
The estate, covering around 230 hectares, continues its agricultural, livestock and forestry activities, preserving the rural character of the surroundings.
One of El Dalmau’s treasures is the old pond, fed by water that springs from the mountain and is channelled to the fountain located in front of the pond.
This fountain is one of the three purest in the region, and you can drink its water with complete peace of mind.
El Dalmau has been passed down through generations of our family. Walking through its doors is like stepping back in time and discovering the legacy of our ancestors in every corner.
The thick walls, old corners and many of the details uncovered during the restoration reveal the evolution of its history and the constant extensions that have been carried out over the centuries.
The oak beams in the ceilings, the stone or terracotta-tiled floors, the doors and windows, and the furniture preserve traces of another time and help us understand a way of life from the past, a period in history, a country.
